Getting Your Website and Work Online Right from the Start

Whether you’ve been working at a career in affiliate marketing for a while, or you’re just starting out, you will undoubtedly be aware of the many steps that go into establishing your work online. The best way to approach the breadth of your work online as an affiliate marketer is to go through each step one by one!

One of the biggest obstacles will be acknowledging and identifying the wide range of tools that you will need to acquire in order to assist you in your work online. The good news is that as far as setting up a business goes, the tools and equipment you will need as an affiliate marketer are relatively inexpensive! And when you are just starting out, it is very doable to work with free versions of these tools.

The first and most essential thing you will need is web hosting. This will essentially be the ‘house’ for your website and can often also be referred to as the web server. Your web hosting will contain all of the files related to your sites and can also act as the back end to your site for altering and maintenance. This will always be your main port of call in your work online. The back end of your web hosting will often also be called your cpanel.

Once you have your hosting sorted you will need to register your unique domain name. You can think of your domain name as the ‘address’ to your ‘house’ which is your hosting platform. When you have registered your domain name you will need to attach it to your web host. As complicated as it may sound, connecting your domain name and hosting really is quite simple. Your web host should have step-by-step instructions on how to do this.

The next step in the process is getting your website up. This too can be much simpler than it seems! In order to avoid grappling with HTML codes and design many affiliate marketers set up their work online through blogging software like WordPress. The great thing about this option is that the install process can be completed in a matter of minutes and all of the content creation and management is done through the exact same format as WordPresses free blogging site. This is an incredibly powerful way to create and maintain a site that looks like any other HTML based site.

Initially the thought of these processes may seem overly technical and too hard for you to even consider managing yourself. But the honest truth is that once you have completely set up a site once, you will have no trouble doing it again and again. Of course there will be a bit of a learning curve to using the WordPress software in order to have you page presented as exactly as you’d like it. But it will become like second nature soon enough.

Once you have your website up and fully functional you will find yourself thinking further ahead about traffic generation, optimizing your site for best search engine results as well as capturing information from your visitors. These are all very important elements to your work online and a lot of these tasks can’t be easily performed without the right tools to automate and simplify the processes.

Information on these tools will be coming up in the next post. Remember, your work online doesn’t need to be any kind of hard slog. The work online you perform can become effortless and enjoyable if you have the right processes and tools in place.
